Stimulating wound healing with cold plasma technology: nominated by VGZ
Team Plasmacure is incredibly proud that we have been nominated by VGZ Cooperative for the VGZ Award: Healthcare Innovator of the Future! The award is an encouragement for young companies with promising ideas in healthcare. With this award, we bring good and affordable healthcare for future generations closer. Our solution, PLASOMA, helps chronic wounds heal much faster with cold plasma technology. The winner receives a €5,000 prize and tailored guidance from VGZ. From September 2 to 26, the public can vote online.
In the Netherlands, approximately 500,000 people suffer from chronic wounds. These are primarily elderly individuals with painful wounds on their lower legs or feet due to, for example, poor blood circulation. Wounds that often remain open for months and sometimes never heal. They can lead to hospitalization and amputation and a drastically reduced quality of life. Plasmacure’s PLASOMA therapy offers a solution. Cold plasma kills bacteria and stimulates the skin’s natural healing process. Clinical research shows that PLASOMA is 2.5 times more effective at closing chronic wounds than standard wound care. PLASOMA can thereby save more than 40% of healthcare costs and improve care productivity by over 50%.
Vote for the healthcare of the future!
VGZ urges all Dutch citizens to cast their votes, giving everyone a say in the future of healthcare. The outcome is determined by a combination of public votes (50%) and the assessment of an expert jury (50%). The winners will be announced during a festive final evening on Tuesday, October 1st, at the VGZ Cooperative head office in Arnhem.
The jury comprises various experts: healthcare innovation expert Joris Arts, VGZ’s Chief Health Officer Cas Ceulen, a representative from the VGZ Members’ Council, and Linda Daniels, Manager of Medical Specialist Care at the Dutch Patients’ Federation.
Bjorn Sprengers, Chief Executive Officer of Plasmacure: “We are extremely happy and proud to be nominated for this award. It’s an extra encouragement for the team to keep working hard to help people overcome their chronic wounds. Of course, we hope for many votes; that alone would be a fantastic result.”
Cas Ceulen, Chief Health Officer at VGZ Cooperative and jury chair: “To emphasize the importance of healthcare innovation, we have renamed the ‘Samen Voorop Awards’ to VGZ Healthcare Innovator of the Year. As in previous years, we are once again looking for remarkable innovations that contribute to a healthier Netherlands with sustainable healthcare. We seek initiatives that deserve the spotlight and inspire other healthcare providers to also get started with these good examples.”
